I joined Tom Mansfield, Matt Bartels & MaryFrances for a morning trip
up to Steven's Pass. Tom and I hiked most of the way up to the lake
with a few other groups of birders and had quite a few birds including
great views of both crossbills.

Red-breasted Nuthatch - 3
Gray Jay - 6
Steller's Jay - 1
Common Raven - 8
Pine Grosbeak - 2 just below the open area with switchbacks
Cassin's Finch - 40+
Red Crossbill - 50 at the pass, another 75+ in Skykomish
White-winged Crossbill - 90+
Common Redpoll - 40, probably another larger flock heard
Pine Siskin - 50
Evening Grosbeak - 220 at the pass including a single flock of 180+
over the parking lot, another 40 in Skykomish

On the way back down we had a singing Purple Finch in Skykomish. The
Montlake Fill produced singing House Finches and a flyover American
Goldfinch to round out a ten finch day!

At Juanita Bay Park one of the White-throated Sparrows was near the
south entrance in the blackberries.

Good birding,
