Just a few items of interest, as follows. The Cookie Mill in Stanwood was
dark and closed when we tried to get lunch and coffee on Saturday. Too bad,
the proprietor was friendly to us and other birders and served delicious
food and coffee. Best of luck to her and the employees. There is a
Great-horned Owl nest near the boat launch at the Skagit Headquarters.
Deception Pass had large numbers of Red-throated Loons, as well as a few
Common and Pacific individuals. Also, there were many grebe species and
cormorants. As we drove south on Whidbey Island we noticed that Bos Lake
near Swantown was full to the brim and inferred from washed sand and bits of
driftwood that wind and wave action had pushed water across the road,
erasing a lot of shorebird habitat. Would you like to see evidence of
sea-level rise?



Last, we were startled to see three turkeys on Lone Lake Road on Sunday
afternoon. They looked like very tame wild turkeys.
