I thought I had posted my last on this subject, but today I got some more information.

1. Someone emailed that Ebird is not free. From the Ebird website, it appears that there is a web based version that allows you to maintain lists without charge. I haven't done this yet. There may be a "bells and whistles" version that isn't free - use on a PDA was mentioned. So I am not clear on this point.
I did get several responses that Ebird wasn't that easy to use, but I am not sure which "version" they are talking about.
2. Two tweeters are very happy with Birder's Diary for the PC ,as an Avisys alternative. I still have gotten more positives about Avisys, but I will check them both out.

Just as a thought, it would be great if someone more conversant with birding software than I am would write a piece for SAS and/or WOS newsletters outlining the Pros and Cons of the various alternatives. We would all be very appreciative.
