I live in north Seattle and (unfortunately) commute to the Redmond area each day, usually traveling via Lake City Way/Bothell Way. In addition to watching the cars in front of me, I often keep an eye out for birds. I'm realizing that others may do this as well and thought I'd ask if others had a "remarkable" sighting to report from their commuter slogs along the overfilled asphault corridors of western Washington.

To start things out, in the past year along my route I've seen a Northern Mockingbird fly right in front of me (reported here last year); 4-5 Cackling Geese poking around a partially flooded gravel parking lot near the main intersection in Bothel about three weeks ago; repeated sightings of Bald Eagles in the Lake Forest Park area, including TWO adults in the same tree yesterday morning right along side of Bothel Way, just east of Ballinger Way; Great Blue Herons (still) frequently flying over the Kenmore area, near the Park & Ride; and an apparent population explosion among crows using the Kenmore area as a roosting site. Seemingly thousands of birds disperse from there each morning, far more than I remember, say, 5-10 years ago.

I considered making a formal "commuting life list", but than decided that was carrying the whole listing thing a BIT too far! :-) Or maybe have a "Birds Seen While Stopped at Red Lights" list -- what do you think?
