The black-cappeds in my neighborhood usually don't start building until early April, with eggs being laid mid month. They're probably just window shopping. But it's a good sign if they're checking out housing!

As a new bird feeder, I notice that some Black-capped Chickadees are sniffing around a bird house I just put up, going inside and checking it out. Are they really ready to start nesting in February or are they just window shopping?
