Subject: [Tweeters] Coopers Hawks Return to North Rose Hill, Kirkland

Last year we had the excitement of Coopers Hawks nesting across the
street from our North Rose Hill (Kirkland) home. They produced two
offspring who hung around most of the summer.

Today I saw what I assumed was one of those offspring, flapping
around our backyard. At one point he droppped from our fence into the
underbrush near our feeders and emerged with lunch. He was then
mobbed by a much larger Cooper's, though he managed to hang onto his
catch. Whereas the first bird's eyes looked red/mature, the second
bird still had the bright yellow eyes of a juvenile, so it might be
that the first bird was one of last year's parent hawks.

Both were pretty spook-resistant and I was able to get some nice
shots, posted here:

I would welcome opinions as to whether these birds are siblings or
parent/child.
