Tom Aversa phoned in the highlights of the birds we had yesterday, February
28, in the lowlands of Skagit and northern Snohomish counties. If you
regularly check the BirdBox this posting will be a repeat, but for those who
do not, here is a summary.

First of all we did NOT find the Red-shouldered Hawk near LaConner although
we looked for it in the usual places at about 7:30-8:00am and again at about
12:00-12:30pm.

A pair of EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES in Edison was exhibiting
courtship/pre-nesting behavior.

Also at Edison, a COMMON (EURASIAN) TEAL was with Green-winged Teal in a
slough on the north side of town.

A HARLAN'S HAWK was around the edges of a cottonwood plantation south of
Edison.

A male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was in a large mixed blackbird/cowbird flock
on the Butler Flats.

A large Snow Goose flock on Fir Island contained two BLUE GEESE.

Three or more TREE SWALLOWS were at the TNC Port Susan site south of
Stanwood (end of Boe Road).
