This morning just as it was getting light, my wife was in the kitchen and saw a big bird fly to our big fir tree. A closer look saw it to be a PILEATED WOODPECKER. A great start for the new year. A Northern Flicker flew into the suet feeder shortly after. Then when it started getting lighter, the birds started showing up at all the feeders: we had a number of both species of Chickadees and Dark-eyed Juncos, a Red-breasted Nuthatch, Bewick's Wren, American Goldfinch, House Finch, Spotted Towhee, American Robin and a pair of Anna's Hummingbirds.
