My first bird of the year (audio only) was either a Killdeer or a Starling pretending to be a Killdeer. Sometimes I just can't tell...

My last bird of 2007 was a doozy - a Peregrine Falcon at the Lakewood Marina. It came in low, banked hard over the little bay, made an unsuccessful pass at the coots/killdeer/gulls that were hanging at the shoreline and retired to a cottonwood tree where it perched and preened. I watched for a good fifteen minutes until I was just too cold to keep on.

It had no leg bands that I could see.
