I was lucky this year. My first bird of 2008 was also my last bird of
2007...a GREAT HORNED OWL. I heard one about 6:00 PM last night as I took the
dog out and I heard one again about 6:00 Am when I took her out again. The
first bird I saw this year was a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET under one of the feeders.

Much better than the last couple of years when the first bird was either a
STARLING or a HOUSE SPARROW.

The year did got off to a good start and let's hope all our birds are
identifiable.
