It was an exiting day for me today.A most beautiful Photo got sent to me of the Arctic Loon from Saturday,I was so impressed by this perfect photo,I decided that I have to go to Browsmead to see this bird up so close. I contacted Bill Clemons in Oregon for the direction.It was already 10.00PM. I was not realizing that it was so late.But I got an answer at 11,PM. With a nice message and a good detailed direction.Thank you Bill for you kindness,to encourage me to take this Trip
I made the trip with Igor ,leaving Tacoma at 5,45 AM and arrived in Browsmead at 8.30 with no trouble.But stepping out of the car,we could hardly stand up.The wind was so strong,it was hard to hold you binoculars steady.We parked on the bridge as bill mention and trying to find "A LOON"The waves was so swift that you could not see to far on the water,We took arrive on the loop there this to get out of the wind.We saw small Geese in the air,as there settled there turned out to be all Cackling Geese.We also saw hundreds of Ducks in the flooded fields.Sitting in the car and scoping with you binoculars was hard to ID them all.there was to far not using our scope.As we returned from our little tour ,we stopped at the Barendse Bridge,we saw a larger Loon,but this bird dove all the time ,we decided to check it out. I was so happy to seeing some other birders ,it was Sherry and Arden Hagen.We all decided to checking out Pentilla Road.As we drove halve way down We discover the Arctic Loon so close to the road ,but this was not to long some seconds as he dove for some small fish.This fish had to be close to the surface since the Loon was not diving to deep,since he stayed in the area and repeated this behavior.By this time the wind died little down,and I could taking some nice shots fairly close .This bird stayed in this area as we left at 11.00 PM.This Arctic loon seems so much brighter white and so much blacker showing a sharp contrast ,not seeing this plumage on the Arctic Loon at Point No Point.
