It's a funny thing - this time last year, my garden was alive with varied
thrushes - I had them poking around everywhere on my lawn. This winter
season so far I've had *one* bird in November, and never a sign of one
since.

Varied Thrush - there were 13 on the "lawn" (all moss) in front of my house
- big groups have been around for several weeks now - I suspect the snow
that is visible from the house almost in every direction and has been there
for a couple of weeks has driven these birds down some.
