Hi Everyone,

I spent most of 'New Year's Day' birding along the lower end of Lake Chelan. The best bird of the day was a female WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKER at the Lake Chelan State Park (at the junction of Hwy 971 & Road 23). The woodpecker was near campsite 38. Other species in the vicinity included Red-breasted Nuthatches, Mountain Chickadees, and a Varied Thrush.

Birding was a challenge with over 12 inches of soft snow primarily in finding safe parking, although part of the road system into the Park was plowed.
