Hi Tweeters,

This afternoon I went to the Cedar River mouth in Renton in search for
unusual seagulls and found one Glaucous Gull (1st winter, I think).
It was finally scared away, along with all the other gulls, when the
airport operations people, who for the third time in about one hour,
fired of their fire-crackers.

I went over to the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park where several
hundred gulls had gathered. I re-found the Glaucous Gull there.

Pictures of the bird:

With all the airport noise activities it seems the place to go for
gulls these days are on the log boom at Gene Coulon just before dusk.

In addition the the above mentioned I saw the usual:
Glaucous-winged
Herring
Thayer's
Western
Common
Ring-billed

Western Grebe Many far out on the lake.
Horned Grebe Several.
Greater White-fronted Goose About 10 near the river mouth.
Common Merganser Several flocks.
Gadwall A few pair.
Mallard A few.
Bufflehead A few.
Common Goldeneye 4 or 5
Hooded Merganser A few small flocks
Coopers Hawk Hiding in a tree at the playground at Gene Coulon -
good photo oportunity!
GBH 25 birds sitting on the new trail soon to connect the Cedar
River with Gene Coulon Park.

This is my first Tweeters posting having read a lot of others postings
over the last few years. I will get on the bandwagon with my own
posts from now on. Thanks to all whose posts I have benefited from.
