Hi Tweets,

Just now as we were visiting in our living room I noticed Rock Pigeons,
blackbirds, and every other type of bird scattering on the horizon through
the living room window.

I watched as a large raptor appeared over the neighborhood. All the small
birds went into fear flight. I realized it was a falcon and went outside
with the bins expecting either a Prairie or Peregrine.

To my amazement it was an immature gray-morph Gyrfalcon. He must have been
hunting below the house where all of the ducks and geese roost as it had a
very extended crop.

While I have seen many Gyrfalcons in the Columbia Basin, this is a first for
our yard. The bird continued flying to the east.
