My wife and I took an afternoon walk around Green Lake today and had quite a
few entertaining close encounters of the feathered kind. The waterfowl were
out in force and a juvenile Bald Eagle was watching them intently.
Unfortunately for the eagle, the crows were watching him just as intently.
Pied-billed Grebes, American Coots, and Northern Shovelers were present in
large numbers at the south end of the lake, and about 100 American Wigeons
were grazing the play fields at the north end. We saw one Eurasian Wigeon
mixed in with the flock. I took photos of many of the birds that we saw and
