Hi Ann Marie and Tweeters,

Searching for the Bohemian Waxwing (BOWA) I second the
suggestion of Ann Marie's to wear boots. I had them
in the car but didn't realize until I had soaked feet
I needed them when I was looking for the BOWA on
Monday. This bird is worth soggy, muddy shoes (and
cold, wet feet) though. I was fortunate to see it
after tromping around quite a bit, perched up with
Cedar Waxwings first from a distance and then got
closer looks. Lovely bird and fun to see with the
Cedars for comparison, he/she is a brute in size
compared. According to Sibley the BOWA is only an
inch longer but twice the weight of a Cedar Waxwings.
I found it between Kite Hill and the water. I ran
into a newer birder at the Waxwings named Doug who has
been bitten badly by the birding bug. On the way back
to work after the lunchtime run for a great bird I ran
into another birder I recognize but can't recall his
name. He had been there at least 4 times for the
Bohemian and was getting ready to give up. I hope he
was able to see it Monday. It sounds like this bird
has various habits and can be hard to find, so good
luck to all who try.

Trivia question is Cedar Waxwing CEDW rather than
CEWA? If so, why? I am halfheartedly warming up to
the code thing and am curious.
