Tweets,
There were lots of us hunting for the Bohemian Waxwing this morning.
Kevin Aenerud spotted it about 11:00 in a patch of hawthorn near the
Park & Ride Lot off 65th. I finally found it about noon. After looking
at lots of white undertail coverts, I spotted a grayer-breasted bird
with terracotta undertail coverts. The bird was with a flock of 20-30
Cedar Waxwings that were eventually joined by a small group of
Red-winged Blackbirds.
Directions: Enter on 65th, continue east 3-4 blocks and turn left
through the chainlink fence into the P&R lot, go straight past all the
parking aisles to a maintenance access on the north side. There are
some compost piles to the east and the hawthorns are visible in front of
the large cottonwoods. This area was sheltered from the brisk winds
that were blowing out by the lake and quite birdy.
