Hi Caryn,

I've had between 3-5 year-round Anna's for the past several years,
keeping two feeders out back and one out front to minimize feeder
bullying. Last year, in early April, I had my first on-site nester -
in a Rhododendron ca. 7 ft. off the ground but mere inches from the
front porch. The front feeder was nearby, and there was plenty of
cover.

Throughout my modest yard I have landscaped with a myriad of trees,
bushes and shrubs - all vertical layers of the flora are well
established, and a few provide winter blossoms.

Clean food and the comfort of shelter in a reasonably diverse
micro-habitat -- beyond that one can only rely on luck. About which
