Linda and Tweeters,

The Burke Museum is always looking for specimens that
you happen across in your birding travels or in your
neighborhood. Any species is welcome. Detailed info
and guidelines at:

http://www.washington.edu/burkemuseum/collections/ornithology/faqs_qa.php#dead

You can either call the Ornithology Dept (206)
543-1668 at the Burke and drop off the bird at the UW
campus during regular weekday museum hours (10-5pm
M-F), or bring it to the WOS (WA Ornithological
Society) meeting on the 1st Monday of the month at 7pm
at the Center for Urban Horticultural UW campus).
http://www.wos.org/WOSMeet.htm

The Burke asks that you minimally:

-Place the bird in your freezer in one (or two)
ziplock or sealed plastic bags as soon as you can
-write down the date you found the bird
-location you found the bird
-your name and phone number (in case of questions)

The Slater Museum also accepts donated birds, but I am
not familiar with what birds they would like or who to
contact.

If you are not able to make a trip to the UW, you can
still call the Ornithology Dept at the Burke and they
may know of someone who would be willing to pick up
the bird and bring it to the museum for you--or post
to Tweeters to see if a local Tweet may be willing to
courier your bird!

Tweeters,

An ominous thump on the dining room window drew me to
a Fox Sparrow who had just had a collision with the
glass. I know that some where I have saved the
information about organizations who want dead birds
for study, but I can't find it now that I need it. So
I'm turning to Tweeters.
Does anyone know who I can donate this little fellow
to, so that his death was not in vain.
Thank you
