Sorry for the delayed report, we had a female black-headed grosbeak at our feeder off South Bay Road, Olympia, on Wednesday the 16th. The first one I've seen here in winter.

A question, how early might hooded mergansers or wood ducks start breeding? Planning on putting up a box at a pond nearby and wondering if I need to get it up soon?
