The LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL last seen 1/5/2008 has been relocated. The ice
has reformed at the Yakima Delta and there were hundreds of gulls loafing
there this afternoon. Unfortunately it was only seen for a very brief time.
By 3:30 it wandered off into the masses and could not be relocated. As the
sun got lower, all of the gulls looked dark backed.

We are confident it is still around. There is also a first-basic Glaucous
Gull in the crowd. A scope is necessary to find the bird and see details.

If you are following the directions in the Birders' Guide to Washington, be
aware that the west entrance to the Yakima Delta is the only way in and out
now. The east entrance was closed off when Hwy 240 was widened.
