Highlights of a trip to Okanogan and Douglas Counties on Jan 15-16
with Ann Musche, Alan Richards and Jane Hadley. We had generally
clear skies and temperatures ranged from -1 to 24 F.:

Gray Partridge - three flocks of 7-8 birds seen on Jan 16 on the
Waterville Plateau - on Mathieson Rd nw of Mansfield, on Rt 2 just
east of Moses Coulee, and at Withrow.

Chukar - one flock of ~8 on Jan 16 on Rt. 2 just east of Moses Coulee.

Sharp-tailed Grouse - 7 seen from the Scotch Creek overlook near
Conconully on Jan 15. We arrived about 7:30am and saw nothing. We saw
the first birds about 8:45 after the sun had a chance to warm things
up a bit.

Eurasian Collared Dove - ~12 in Mansfield on Jan 16.

Snowy Owl - one on Jan 16 at the intersection of Slusser Rd (aka 6th)
and F near Withrow.

Townsend's Solitaire - 1 at Riverside on Jan 15.

American Tree Sparrow - one at the intersection of Moe and Grange
Roads in the Bridgeport Bar.

Snow Bunting - one flock of ~250 on Jan. 15 on Nealey Rd. between
Havillah and Chesaw. One flock of 7 on Jan 16 near Mansfield.

We struck out on Redpolls and Bohemian Waxwings. We looked diligently
for Great Gray Owl at the Havillah Sno Park with no success. We also
struck out on Lapland Longspurs and Gray-crowned Rosy Finches on the
Waterville Plateau. Although we saw some good birds and the landscapes
were picturesquely snow-covered the birding was generally slow.
