On Tuesday (1/15/08), Jon Isacoff and I birded a bit
up in southern Pend Oreille County. On the way up, we
made a cursory swing through Peone Prairie (Spokane
Co.). The weather was mostly sunny, cool, and breezy
with good snow cover.

Below is the excerpted report that Jon made to Ebird.
The most notable P.O. County species of the day, were
the flock of CASSIN'S FINCHEs on S. LeClerc Road, a
nice flock of PYGMY NUTHATCHES in Cusick, and the
continuing male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE in Scotia Valley.
The Barrow's Goldeneye that was previously reported by
Terry Little, has buddied up with one drake COMMON
GOLDENEYE on the ice free pond (warm spring fed?) on
the corner of Scotia and Little Pend Oreille River
Roads.

Jon and I heard what sounded like an eastern Blue Jay
calling in downtown Cusick, but we were unable to
locate the bird. Since we did not obtain a visual for
confirmation, I will not count it for the county year
list.
