18 of us from Tacoma held our annual freeze-a-thon to
n.c. washington this weekend. Between the dense fog on the
waterville plateau, snow, high wind and sunny skies of Okanogan
we managed a few birds. Birding was slow to excitingly frantic.
The plateau was very slow during two visits, while the highlands
were windy with sporadic successes.

Day 1 Waterville Plateau
~30 Partridge in various locals, mostly Withrow
~15 Tree Sparrows, 1 mile west of Douglas
3 E. Collared Doves, Mansfield
1 T. Solitaire, Foster ck.

Day 2 Omak to the highlands
~800 B. Waxwings, Janis Bridge so. of Tonasket
1 imm. G. Eagle, downtown Tonasket
5 Sharp-Tailed Grouse, ~ 1.5 miles so of Oberg rd.
~250 Snow Buntings, start of Nealy rd.
1 adult Goshawk, 2 miles up Bolster rd.
65 Redpolls, Mary Ann Ck., near China Poland, this was from
a tip.
~30 Red Crossbills, Mary Ann, Davies rd. 8 in fly-by to far
to hear. W.W.?

Day 3 Bridgeport area, Waterville Plateau
1 Harris' Sparrow Bridgeport SP
50 B. Waxwings Bridgeport SP
1 Merlin, Bridgeport
1 Gyrfalcon, flying from 6nw across F toward Lamoine
1 Snowy Owl, 1 mile east of F along 6nw.

No Rosy finches, the Saw-Whet Owl at BSP was not found
All in all a very enjoyable weekend for all.
