Subject: [Tweeters] A ruffed grouse tests my heart

I was exploring the old Siler Logging Road off Echo Lake Rd near my home and
there were many fallen trees to climb over. I stepped over one and right
next to my foot, literally within kicking distance was a brown blob, which
when I focused on it, turned into what I thought was a dead ruffed grouse.
Since I had stepped so close and it did not move I was sure it must be dead.
I bent over to touch it and it exploded in my face, knocking me backwards in
my surprise. I guess I don't have any kind of heart condition because
surely that kind of shock would have done me in. I was in hyper alert mode
for the next several minutes, my heart pounding and every little sound and
movement got my full attention. If Starbucks could make that into a drink,
you would need a prescription to dispense it and they would call it
something like the brown heart attack.
