Tweeters,

I made a quick trip today over to Richland to try for the Ivory Gull which was not relocated today. Several other westside birders joined in the search along with at least a few eastsiders, spreading out over the greater Tri-City area looking at gulls. John Gatchet and I had a good day, joined in parts with the Denny's, Brad Waggoner and Nancy LaFramboise.

Walla Walla Co. highlights were: SAY'S PHOEBE (Ice Harbor), TUNDRA SWANS and GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE (McNary NWR ponds), MERLIN (Burbank), GLAUCOUS GULLS (2 OR 3 poop piles/WW Delta), MEW GULL, 60+ DUNLIN and a SNIPE on the ice at the WW Delta, 100+ YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS (poop piles).

Benton Co. highlights were: GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, EURASIAN WIGEON, GLAUCOUS GULL AND LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (Columbia Park and Yakima River Delta) The LBBG and GLGU I observed alone at about 430-450pm, on the ice at the Yakima Delta in fading light. Many Gulls had settled on the ice when I arrived and I was able to scope them out well.

Weather in the Tri-Cities today was clear and sunny, low this morning around 24F and warming up to around 31F late afternoon. Slight breeze this morning, but then calming down most of the day.

It will be interesting to see if the IVORY GULL shows up anywhere along the Columbia or Snake River over the next few days. This gull could be moving anywhere along the rivers. Good luck and good birding!
