I had the loud boys today as a team doing soil samples along Woods Creek in
Al Borlin Park in Monroe. We were a loud group of 5, clanging, thrashing
around and yelling. At one point one of the boys looked overhead and said,
oh my god. Almost directly above us, and looking down from about 20 feet in
a cottonwood was an apparently curious Bald Eagle. It was an instant
silencer as we all looked up. I wondered how long the eagle had been
watching us and what it thought. Apparently having us suddenly go quiet and
look at it made the bird uncomfortable as it shifted its weight a couple of
times, then flew off downstream.
