Hello,

With so much talk of varied thrushes, I'd like to mention that there have
been large flocks of them in the Carnation area. In the Lake Marcel
neighborhood (on the east hills halfway between Carnation and Duvall), there
have been flocks of 5-40 birds regularly working the neighborhood during the
last month. Today at Tolt-McDonald Park in town there was a mixed flock of
approximately 30 robins and 30 varied. There are also eagles easily seen on
the gravel bars in the Snoqualmie River feeding on salmon. This AM there
were 5 side by side on a gravel bar and two more in the trees along the
river that were visible from the suspension bridge. The flock of 210-220
trumpeter swans is also still in the area. They have been frequenting Lake
Langlois and the fields at Remlinger Farms. Thank you to Michael Hobbs for
letting the class from Carnation Elementary look through his spotting scope
at the swans!
