Tweeters,

An hour ago I observed a Double-crested Cormorant on Larsen Lake just
east of 148th AV NE in Bellevue. The Lake is frozen and it appears
that this individual got caught up in the process. Made several calls
to WA Fish and Wildlife and was pleased to get a firm answer, which was
that none of their officers would risk their lives to save this bird.
They suggested that I call PAWS, fire departments, and the Federal Fish
and Wildlife so they could tell me the same thing. Just called
Bellevue Fire Department. Too risky for them.

So, who wants to get involved, or would it be better to consider this a
fine example of natural selection in action?
