On Tuesday (1/22/08), Jon Isacoff and I braved the
biting cold of single digit temps to bird the Spokane
River corridor from Seven Mile up to Corkscrew Canyon.
Despite the cold, the skies were sunny, and the winds
were calm.

While the complete list of birds seen is the extract
from Jon's Ebird post, I wanted to add a few comments.

Immediately inside the Stevens County line (north of
Nine Mile), we saw one female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE.
Later, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was perched in the top
of bare deciduous tree near at the Lakeshore Estates
Office in Tum Tum.

In the subdivision along Indian Trail, we encountered
pleasingly birdy conditions. While, a couple of flock
of CEDAR WAXWINGs were actively feeding, a stoic flock
of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGs remained perched in the top of a
Lombardy Poplar.

As a nice finale to our trip, we stopped to admire a
MERLIN perched in a large tree on 57th Ave. (South
Hill near Freya).
