Tom Aversa reported on the BirdBox Thursday morning January 24 that he had
relocated on Wednesday, January 23 the two Emperor Geese near South Bend,
Pacific County, first reported January 15 by Charlie Wright, and at the same
location with a flock of Cackling and Canada Geese. The spot is just south
of Carruthers St. and Carruthers Slough, which is not labeled on my DeLorme
(pg. 44, C2) but is apparently at the western edge of South Bend. The two
White-tailed Kites reported earlier were also seen.

Tweets,

Just to update on the Emperor Geese, I saw the two adults on Tuesday, Jan.
22, mid-afternoon, in the field near Carruthers Slough west of South Bend.
At that time, there were more than 1000 Cackling and Canada Geese in several
smaller and larger flocks on the north side of the highway at this point.
The Emperor Geese stayed very close together.

Chase that goose, Bob

Jeff Jendro and I tried for the Emperor Geese near South Bend yesterday
morning. We spent nearly a hour scoping the various flocks of
Canada/Cackling Geese. We did pick out one Greater White-fronted Goose.
Also, two red neck bands were seen on the Canadas.

After South Bend, we headed back to Grays Harbor county covering the Hoquiam
STP, Grays Harbor NWR, and the Brady Loop area. Most notable were two
separate Rough-legged Hawks. One was seen "kiting" near the K street field
in Hoquiam. The other was on the south end of Foster Rd. in the Brady Loop
area.
