Can you visualize a small army of wet suit clad Tweeters rumbling into
Bellevue in their Subarus? I can almost hear Garry Owen playing in
the background?

Unfortunately recruitment numbers are way down and our task force only
totals three. No one knows how long the Cormorant that appears to be
stuck in frozen Larsen Lake has been there. Could it survive the night?

The plan: The inflatable would be inflated. Marc Hoffman and I would
take turns swinging the ice ax and tree chopping ax, ice breaking our
way out to the helpless bird. On shore Diane Weinstein would play out
the rope attached to water craft and ax swingers. A large towel would
be thrown over the frantic Cormorant and skillfully placed final ax
swings would free the captive.
Diane would then pull the exhausted three back to shore. The bird
would be taken to PAWS where it would receive an exhaustive medical
examination and force fed a can of sardines before being retuned to
the wild.

At 8:30 this morning I checked on the Cormorant before putting the
plan into operation. It was gone without a trace. This is good. The
ice is two inches thick now. I figure it was just pretending to be
stuck in the ice. Sure had me fooled.

Thank you Marc and Diane for wanting to be involved.
