These are very nice photos of a COMMON LOON. It is because
they are such nice clear shots that we can be quite definitive.
The strong collar markings are one of the most efficient ways
of sorting Commons form Pacific and Arctic Loons and works even
at some distant. The bill is also too heavy. The white side
panels on this bird are also positioned wrong. Note that there
are no "tail-lights", a field mark that shows on the Brownsmead
bird even when the side-panels are sumerged.
