This last weekend Megan Lyden and I led a joint Seattle Audubon/East Lake
Washington Audubon trip to BC.? Our first stop was Reifel Sanctuary, where
John Ireland, the refuge manager, graciously gave us a guided tour.?
Highlights included three owl species (GREAT-HORNED, BARRED, and NORTHERN
SAW-WHET); Black-crowned Night Heron; Sandhill Crane.? Sadly, we were not
able to locate any Bohemian Waxwings or Redpolls.

At the Westham Island Bridge, a CLARKE?S GREBE was present with a few
Westerns.? The Tsawwassen Ferry yielded all 3 Scoters, Black Oystercatcher,
and Willet, among others.

Sunday morning we headed to Point Roberts, and spent a couple of hours
scoping the waters.? From there we headed south and stopped in Surry, where
Wayne Weber had given us directions to a HARRIS?S SPARROW
a life bird for
several in the group.

The last stop of the weekend was in Blaine at Drayton Harbor, and didn?t
disappoint us:? we had absolutely stunning views of LONG-TAILED DUCK,
WHITE-WING SCOTER, and EARED GREBE, among many others.? For the trip, 93
species. All in all, a delightful weekend, with great birds and great
weather.? We got lucky.
