Our zoo website recieved a photo and ID question from a person from Wedgewood . He had a Blue eared-pheasant (Crossoptilon auritum) on his back deck. Not sure the date of the sighting, but it was probably the same bird.

People often bring dead birds in to ID. Today, was exceptional because I got called over to the main office to ID a "large bird." I certainly wasn't expecting a Tibetan Eared Pheasant!

A gentleman who lives near Sand Point found it dead in his yard today (July 1). I made several attempts to find an exotic bird listserve to inform the owner that we found their bird and we will be donating it to the educational/research collection at the Burke Museum if they want it. If someone on Tweeters is the owner or knows a better way to reach that community, please let me know.

Time is of the essence as we don't have a freezer big enough for it.

Thanks!
