Happy Fourth of July! Hope some of
you see turkey vultures on this festive day.
Following is the report from Washington and Oregon for June 2008:

01 ? 2 at the Crescent Lake WA near Monroe; 1
flying over Friends Landing, Montesano; 4
kettling southwest of Littlerock; 1 over
Littlerock; 1 at Stevenson; 1 at Maryhill Museum; 3 over Old Hwy 8
02 ? 10 east of Leavenworth
03 ? 1 soaring over I-90 west of North Bend; 17
lifted up from cottonwood trees in Beacon Rock SP
04 ? 1 circling over Littlerock; 23 between Easton and Cle Elum
08 ? 2 in LaCenter feeding on carcass; 1 soaring
near Duvall; 2 soaring over the Duvall Safeway
11 ? 1 at Sprague Lake
12 ? 1 near the Mima Mounds
14 ? 1 near Hyak; 1 at Easton; 1 at North Bend
16 ? 4 flying west out of the Blue Mtns.down
Coppei Creek; 1 soaring at the top of Little Si Mtn.
18 ? 1 swooping by a kitchen window near Littlerock
19 ? 1 over the Humptulips River; 2 over Wishkah River, downtown Aberdeen
20 ? 1 at the lower Dungeness River; 1 near Sleeping Lady Lodge
21 ? 1 over Grays Harbor NWR; 2 over Grass Creek west of Hoquiam
25 ? 4 cruising west of Mount Vernon
26 ? 1 soaring over the Yakima River Canyon
27 ? 1 NNE of Rainier
28 ? 3 near the Nisqually NWR center; 4 near Mount Vernon
30 ? 2 over the lower Dungeness River

I think this is the first month in
several years of reporting that I haven't had one
from British Columbia. I know they are doing fine
there so won't worry. Thanks to all for the
reports. Now is the time to look for young
vultures of the year. They should be fledging by now or soon.
