Subject: [Tweeters] pileated woodpeckers

Joy today. An adult pileated showed up with its young in tow. My natural
forest yard is now a food resource for at least 3 PWs. A dead alder out
back has been mined to near total destruction of the snag. It will have to
come down before fall, but the alder next to it will be cut tall to provide
new forage by spring. Developers have taken every living thing on the 35
acres behind my place. Living in an Urban Growth Zone seems to mean that
green needs to go in the county areas of Snohomish County. At least the
older homes in the urban zone still have forested yards. Hopefully for a
long time to come.
