Subject: [Tweeters] Least Sandpipers at Vashon's KVI Beach

4 Least Sandpipers were at KVI Beach on Vashon Island this afternoon. Another likely spot would be Fern Cove on the nw corner of the Island. These are the first reported of the season. I last checked KVI Beach last Monday and Fern Cove last Tuesday, so these came in the last few days.

Despite the rocket's red glare and the bombs bursting in air, the breeding plumage Horned Grebe that's been in Quartermaster Harbor's inner harbor since at least early June was still present today. The half hour fireworks show shoots off a barge just a few hundred yards from where it hangs out during the day.
