This 4th of July weekend was spent at the Coho Campground at Wynoochee Lake
which is located on the south side of the Olympics approximately 35 miles north
of Montesano. No real surprises, but I did have a good assortment of birds
typical of this area. Here's the list:

unidentified female Grouse with 3 chicks - seen crossing the road near the
falls

American Dipper - one at Wynoochee Falls

Spotted Sandpiper - one along the river above the lake

Gray Jay - heard in tree-tops at campground

Common Nighthawk - heard overhead at campground

Vaux's Swift - one at the dam (with Violet-Green, Barn, Northern
Rough-winged Swallows)

Swainson's Thrush - heard all over the campground

Winter Wren - all over

Western Tanager - heard in the tree tops

Red Crossbill - several flights over head

Band-tailed Pigeon - several seen flying over the campground

Black-throated Gray Warbler - only warbler heard, mainly in the campground

Others seen or heard include Warbling Vireo, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, American
Robin, Crow, and Common Raven.
