Subject: [Tweeters] Least Sandpiper at Kennedy Ck. estuary

In late afternoon today, on the rising tide, I saw first 2, then more
until there were 8 Least Sandpiper feeding on the water's edge of the
Kennedy Creek channel across the tide flats.

The only other shorebirds present were 8 - 10 Killdeer (20 of them seen
here on 30 June).

Kennedy Creek estuary is a problematic place to be observing: as the
shorebirds are pushed up-estuary from Oyster Bay by the rising tide,
they can head up Kennedy Creek estuary and/or Schneider Creek estuary.

(Kennedy Ck. estuary is in Mason County, pretty much at the crossroads
of Old Olympic Highway and US Highway 101.)
