Great shots of 3 young Barred Owls. They will give an ascending "psssSSSST!"
food begging call all night long, and during the day if they are hungry. I
have seen a Barred Owlet put away four mice and still beg for more.

Most of my nests on Bainbridge Island also produced triplets this year, with
my first ever nest of fledged quadruplets. I presently have 77 known Barred
Owls on the Island, with the outcome of four pairs still unknown. This is an
all time high, and a rather spectacular invasion considering that as a
species, they were unknown to the Island until fifteen years ago.

My husband forwarded me these pictures from a colleague: are they really
barred owls? Somehow the barring looks wrong to me.
