Subject: [Tweeters] Update on pileated nest in Lincoln Park

We visited the Lincoln Park (West Seattle) pileated woodpecker nest again
yesterday (Mon 7/7) and found no one home. Apparently Sunday, the day I
first discovered the nest, was Fledging Day. Not knowing that when the young
leave the nest they don't return, I assumed that I would come back (with
camera this time) for days and have many wonderful photos of young
pileateds. At least I have great internal "photos"/memories!
Many thanks to Paul Bannick, who was there with us, for great insights about
woodpeckers and broader natural-history issues.
Happy birding to all,
Trileigh
