Hi Tweeters,

Staying close to home to bird lately. To add to Carol Shultz post, I visited the ponds near Emerald Downs on Sunday and walked out to the drying pond and saw about 12 Least Sandpipers and one Killdeer. The first pond had water and a Spotted Sandpiper working around it. Towards the barn I saw and heard two male Lazuli Buntings. I missed the coyote. I ran into Sandy and Kevin again but they didn't have any rare birds to tell me about, darn...

Yesterday I went to the 212th wetland off of the new Riverview Blvd. Orillia road turns into 212th. Three juvenile Spotted Sandpipers were here. They were beyond the adorable white fluffy stage but still were fluffy on the breast and hind end, with flight feathers growing in, still pretty cute. Two Least Sandpipers were here.

Boeing ponds were dead yesterday evening. The Spotted Sandpipers didn't seem to breed here last year or this year. The water is pretty high too and not much mud for shorebirds.
