Yesterday, my wife and I had another great day of discoveries with my
birding mentor Charlie Sheard up Number 2 Canyon Road above Wenatchee. My
wife and I have been trying to see the YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT for at least a
year, and we finally got our wish. We've also been trying to see a vireo for
months, and yesterday we saw both the WARBLING VIREO and the RED-EYED VIREO.
In addition to seeing these lifers, we also watched a family of RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKERS on "fledge day." One of the chicks was out of the cavity nest and
the parents were coaxing the others to leave the nest. It was the best views
and most exciting time of watching these wonderful birds my wife and I have
ever had. MACGILLAVRAY'S WARBLERS were everywhere, and we had some fairly
good looks at those too. Yesterday was also the first time for seeing a
BEWICK'S WREN west of the Cascades. We also saw

Turkey Vulture

California Quail

Purple Finch

House Finch

Pine Siskin

Black-capped Chickadee

Common Raven

Western Tanager

Spotted Towhee

Thanks Charlie,
