Tom Aversa and I birded in central and eastern Skagit County from
Tuesday evening through Wednesday with the following highlights:

Sooty Grouse - two heard near Rockport
American Kestrel - one in Marblemount
Eurasian Collared-Dove - two near the east end of Cook Road in Sedro-Woolley
Western Screech-Owl - five near Rockport at two locations, four of the
five were seen very well including three babies
Northern Pygmy-Owl - one near Rockport seen extremely closely at dusk
Northern Saw-whet Owl - heard one at least near Rockport
Common Nighthawk - at least five near Rockport
Black Swift - several at Swamp Creek and near the Easy Pass trailhead
American Three-toed Woodpecker - two at a nest along Highway 20 east
of milepost 155
Eastern Kingbird - one at Corkindale
Bank Swallow - a couple at Corkindale, probably more in the distance
Olive-backed Swainson's Thrush - one seen well at Rainy Pass, do they
breed there?
Mountain Chickadee - two along the trail to Cutthroat Pass from Rainy Pass
Cassin's Vireo - one singing at the entrance to the Agg Ponds in Whatcom County
Yellow-breasted Chat - one heard singing on Martin Road just west of
the WDFW parking lot
Chipping Sparrow - two Swamp Creek, five just below Cutthroat Pass
Bullock's Oriole - one at Martin Road
Pine Grosbeak - four within the first mile of the trail from Rainy
Pass to Cutthroat Pass, seen very well
