A farmer friend in Carnation mentioned to me that he had found a "toasted" mature Bald Eagle under a cottonwood near the Snoqualmie River on his property that had definitely been struck by lightening on the evening of July 2 or 3. He let nature take it's course with the carcass. He described the bird as having burned or scorched areas on the bill margins and feet and a smell of burned feathers being strong - direct hit?. I wish I could have seen the fresh result - there was nothing there when we checked on Sunday.
