Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report

On July 16 a MANX SHEARWATER was of Lincoln City, and nine ELEGANT TERNS and
300 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were off Depoe Bay. That day two ELEGANT TERNS were
at the North Jetty of the Siuslaw River near Florence. A male ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK was on the east side of Prineville Reservoir July 16. Two HOODED
ORIOLES were reported July 12 at Talent in the Rogue Valley. A possible
SLATY-BACKED GULL was at Yaquina Bay July 13.

Among the many shorebirds moving through the state during the week were 63
WHIMBREL at Sallys Bend on Yaquina Bay, a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER at Hatfield
Lake near Bend and another at Malheur NWR. On July 13 two SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS were at Hatfield Lake.

On July 12 flocks totaling 73 HEERMANN?S GULLS passed northward off Depoe
Bay. On July 14 five CLARK?S GREBES were among 43 WESTERN GREBES on
Vancouver Lake. Five pairs of REDHEADS continue to be seen on Force Lake
and the Vanport Wetlands in North Portland with no indication of nesting. On
July 13 a BLACK TERN was at the Philomath Sewage Ponds.

That?s it for this week.
