Bob,

Paradise is a great spot to see birds with little effort. Clark's Nutcrackers are quite common and tame near the Paradise Inn. It may be a little late but you can usually get American Pipits in the grasses along the edges of receding snow banks. A short walk on any of the trails near the Inn can turn up Ravens and Mountain Chickadee's. if memory serves, there should be a short loop walk that overlooks the meadows and has some stubby evergreens that may turn up other species as well as a picnic area that should have some very brave and eager Gray Jay's.

I plan to explore some of Mt. Rainier in the next few days in order to do some serious bird photography. I need guidance on exactly where to go and what I might expect to find there. Long strenuous hikes are not for me as I will be carrying a heavy lens or two. Also, I am not an athlete and my body has seen better days. You can reply to me directly if you want.
Thanks,
