Larry,
The first year I went there was 9/04. By way of "documentation" on that, I
have a couple of saved postings in my Tweeters file from 9/05--one was from
Bob Meyer ("BobnBernie") who sent a digital camera recording of the swifts
entering the chimney. In that posting I referred to more swifts in '05 than
when I went there the previous year. In 9/05 we took some novice birding
friends with us, but in 9/04 we went on our own. Brian Bell was there in
'04 and we attempted to estimate the swifts by groups of one hundred and
came up with more than 3000. If I remember correctly, Brian was taking
photos. In '05 by the same method, I estimated over 4,000. I don't
remember whether or not '04 was the first year it was posted. I recall,
though, that the Tweeter who first posted commented that he was on his way
home, maybe from the Two Rivers area, via Main Street and came upon the
Vaux's Swift scene. Was is Ollie Oliver? Ollie, are ya' out there?
